The Archives offers many ways to pursue research both remotely and in our reading room.

• Library Catalog: Search our archival collections, including paper records, photographs, oral histories, and more. Change the search scope from “Search Stout Resources” to “Stout Archives/Area Research Center” to restrict your search to archival materials. We can transfer materials from other Area Research Centers across Wisconsin for you to view in our Reading Room.

• MINDS@UW: Explore finding aids for our archival collections, listen to audiovisual recordings, and read scholarly and creative publications from Stout staff, faculty, and students.

• PhotoShelter: View university-created images of athletics, departments, campus events, and more from 1946 to present. If you do not have an official account, you can view/download images in our research room via appointment.

• Genealogy Index: Search local history records and newspaper articles for Barron, Dunn, and Pepin Counties.

• UW-Stout Digital Collections and Internet Archive: Browse digitized and born-digital archival materials from 1894 to present.

• Ancestry Library: Search this popular database of public records, including census, military, vital, and immigration records. Available on campus or off campus with verified Stout credentials.
