Researching our collections

To ask a research question or request an appointment email archives@uwstout.edu.

  • For appointments, you will receive a confirmation from an archives staff member when your appointment is confirmed. Please provide the archives with at least 24 hours of lead time to prepare for your appointment. Same day appointments submitted by email will rarely be confirmed, and we are not open for walk-in appointments. Appointments will be confirmed during the Archives hours.
  • You do not need to make an appointment to request information from our collections or to ask a research related question. In fact, our staff are able to answer most research questions without a in-person research appointment.
  • For research requests and appointments, please provide us with as much detail as possible. This will help us find the most relevant resources for you and your research.

Visiting the Archives

Getting to the Archives

The UW-Archives is an active learning laboratory, research, and collections space in Room 504A of the University Library.

The Archives is an enclosed office space next to the elevator.

The door will be closed, and there will be a clock in the window if it is closed for a specific time period.

To the left of the door, there is a doorbell. Ring the doorbell, and an Archives staff member will meet you at the door.

Once you enter the Archives, you will need to do the following:

  • Leave your bag and belongings in the lockers
  • Hang your coat or jacket
