Multicultural Book Awards
Many of the above general children's literature sites include multicultural aspects of children's literature. Below are some specific sites:
- Coretta Scott King AwardThis award is intended "to encourage the artistic expression of the African American experience via litererature and the graphic arts, including biogaphical, historical, and social history treatments by African American authors and illustrators."
- Pura Belpre AwardThis award is given to a latino/latina writer or illustrator for an outstanding work of literature that celebrates the Latino cultural experience.
- American Indian Youth Literature AwardFrom the American Indian Library Association. An award to identify and honor the very best writing and illustrations by and about American Indians.
- Américas AwardCLASP (Consortium of Latin American Studies Programs) founded the Américas Award in 1993 to encourage and commend authors, illustrators and publishers who produce quality children’s and young adult books that portray Latin America, the Caribbean, or Latinos in the United States
- Arab American Book AwardA literary program created to honor books written by and about Arab Americans. Includes a section on books for children.
- South Asia Book AwardOutstanding books on South Asia recommended by the South Asia National Outreach Consortium (SANOC)
International Children's Literature
- USBBY Outstanding International Books (OIB) ListsFrom the the United States Board on Books for Young People (USBBY). An honor list of international books for young people.
- Batchelder Award WinnersThe (Mildred A.) Batchelder Award is given to an outstanding children's book written in another language and translated to English.
- International Children's Digital LibraryFeatures digital children's books in English and many other languages.
